| Study Type: | Physical Map Revision | | Description: | A Physical Map Revision (PMR) updating ten Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) panels and the Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report for Marin County to incorporate the Mill Valley and Ross Valley studies. This PMR changes the Flood Insurance Rate Map panels within the Cities of Larkspur, Mill Valley, and San Rafael, the Towns of Corte Madera, Fairfax, Ross, San Anselmo, and the unincorporated Areas of Marin County.
New flood studies were performed along the following flooding sources: portions of Arroyo Corte Madera Del Presidio Creek, Corte Madera Creek, Corte Madera Creek Overflow, Fairfax Creek, Fairfax Creek Overflow, Old Mill Creek, San Anselmo Creek, San Anselmo Creek Overflow, Sycamore Park Overflow, and Warner Canyon Creek. The update includes a new study of the 10- 50- 100- and 500- year flood events, establishment of floodway limits, as well as a map revision of the affected panels. The updated FIRM panels are 06041C0451E, 0452E, 0454E, 0456E, 0458E, 0459E, 0466E, 0467E, 0468E, and 0469E. The study also includes SFHA redelineation based on new topography along several flooding sources within the listed panels.
The proposed Flood Hazard Determinations will publish in the legal ad section of the Marin Independent Journal on February 20 and 27, 2013. The formal appeal period will begin on February 27, 2013, and end on May 28, 2013.
